April Charity Highlight

April 23, 2019

This month we have a special donation being made to a charity that is important to our company and our customers. Our chosen charity for April is the Virginia Piper Institute.

Founded at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in 1990, the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute now includes services at many other hospitals in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Their approach emphasizes compassionate and effective care, offering access to the most advanced treatment and research options for cancer patients.

At Atlas, we are fortunate to be able to make a donation to this wonderful organization and continue to make a difference in our community.

What’s New at Atlas?

New Equipment
Atlas is excited to announce the installation of our new Bystronic Xpert 80/1530 Pressbrake. This new tool allows for increased efficiency and versatility in production. Benefits include:

• Reduced non-productive time at the press brake with implementing offline programming.
• Increased speed and accuracy with programs. Utilizing a bar code reader ensures quality control and speeds up the program loading process.
• Reduced set-up time with efficiently placed, quick change tooling and sequenced bending programs for the least amount of tooling changeovers.

Overall, reducing set-up time on manually operated equipment is one of the most effective ways to increase productivity, increase machine capacity, and reduce overall production costs. Reducing processing times, non-productive times and machine cycle times, contributes to the reduction of the total order turnaround time. With this new equipment, Atlas is working towards giving our customers competitive pricing and quick turnaround.

Charity Initiative
To continue our mission to be a company that gives back to the community, we have introduced a new charity initiative that allows both our company and customers to give back. Each month, we select one customer to have a portion of their bookings be donated to one of the seven charities Atlas identified as important to our business.
The charities that Atlas has chosen to work with are Sharing and Caring Hands, Parkinson’s Foundation of Minnesota, MS Society-Upper Midwest Chapter, The Angel Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, Shriners Healthcare for Children-Twin Cities, and the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute. Each of these charities hold a special connection to one or multiple individuals in our organization, and we are honored to contribute to their causes.

Donations to Habitat for Humanity

April 3, 2019

Atlas has recently made a multiple furniture donation to the Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Items sold at the ReStore allow more families to open the door on a safe, affordable home. A home means kids can sleep and study in safety, parents can start saving for kids’ futures, and families can build lasting connections in their communities.

At Atlas, we are continuously looking for opportunities to give back to our community. Being able to donate to this honorable cause allows us to continue our goal of being a business with a strong sense of social responsibility.
